Prototype Completion!

Fordyno’s LEAF: Bogie prototype is complete!

Featuring a carbon fibre bolster and cantilevered carbon fibre springs for primary suspension and structural strength, this innovative design reduces bogie mass by as much as 1 tonne over conventional bogies. The composite structure resists fatigue, corrosion and chemicals and the configuration reduces the unsprung mass to a practical minimum.

This prototype bogie has been produced to validate the spring manufacturing technique – consolidating many, many layers of carbon fibre-epoxy prepreg material – and the overall bogie assembly. We look forward to showcasing this bogie this September in Berlin at InnoTrans 2022.
